FEATURED
PHONE
is the
Western Electric type 294 Fiddleback.

Fiddleback
telephones take their name from the shape of the telephone
which is reminisent of the shape of a fiddle. This phone
is more compact than the more commonly seen type
85 phone which has the bells facing forward. The type
294, along with its cousin, the type 85 are common battery
phones, meaning the power was supplied by an external source
rather than internal batteries and a magneto. The manufacture
date of this particular telephone is written inside as 1912.
