PHONE
OF THE MONTH
is the
Western Electric Mickey Mouse "Design-Line" character
phone.

The Bell System first introduced the "design-line'
phones beginning in 1974 sold out of their "Phone Stores."
The more common of the character phones were Mickey Mouse
and Snoopy. Less often seen are Winnie the Poo and Kermit
the Frog. All of these phones were offered with dial or
touch-tone. Durng the Bell System era, a sticker found on
most of these phones indicated that the phone company still
owns the "guts" of the telelphone you bought.
"The telephone housing is your property. To assure
quality of service, all working parts, e.g., dial, cords,
and electrical components remain the property and responsibility
of the Bell Telephone Company."
