Anna: yes it is possible to set up a candlestick telephone to use on today's lines but you did not leave me a way to contact you. At the very top of the website's "home page" you will see an email link next to the spinning dial. Email that question to me.

I'm writing a novel about Theodore Roosevelt and I have him talking on a telephone in New York in 1895. Does anyone know what kind of phone might that be, what does it look like,and how does it operate.

I have a stand up brass candlestick phone made by American Telephone and telegraph # 323, patent usa Jan 14 1913. My mother-inlaw gave me this phone.

Still an OSP Engineer retired from SBC - ATT - BellSouth.
Looking for a source of the Outside Plant Handbooks "the thick ones" sometimes known as Lucent. I know at one time these were available in .pdf format. Anyone have one they would like to share?
